Dana Russell – New “SonRise” Morning Host

Dana Russell – New “SonRise” Morning Host

WDYN Radio is pleased to announce that Dana Russell will be the new host for the morning program “SonRise”. Dana says, I am excited to announce that I am joining the team at WDYN Radio, 980 AM and 94.9 FM Chattanooga, TN to be the voice of the “Sonrise” program. It is a distinct pleasure to join this station that for several decades has been a leader in proclaiming the Gospel in word and song over the airwaves.   In many ways I feel inadequate to fill this seat behind the microphone, but I serve a God who is much more than adequate. I will lean wholly on His power to accomplish the task before me…the continuation of the proclaiming of His Word through WDYN. I hope you will join us each weekday morning as I become part of the tradition of ministry that has been the mission of WDYN.      Tell your friends to tune in...
“Hey Earl” Announces Retirement

“Hey Earl” Announces Retirement

Shares TwitterFacebookGoogle+Like On August 26th, Earl Freudenberg, a well known broadcaster in the Chattanooga area for over fifty-five years, will retire from fulltime broadcasting.  Earl began his radio career in his teens as an intern at WAPO Radio.  The day Earl graduated from high school in 1965, his career led him to WDOD where he acquired five years of valuable experience before “Uncle Sam” called him into the army in 1970. During his stint in the army, Mr. Freudenberg was offered and accepted a position at the American Forces Network Europe in Frankfurt Germany.  It was quite an honor for Earl to work with the American Forces Network, and after gaining some invaluable experience, he came home and resumed work with WDOD.   During the next 40 years, Earl was a news director, talk show host, announcer and even did some sales.  Included in his accomplishments have been interviews with such notables as Art Linkletter and Red Skelton. He was also  named AP broadcaster of the year in 1981 and honored as a notable citizen on the state of Tennessee in 1995. When most people would have retired, Earl continued forward after WDOD to work at WDYN Radio station to work for the next ten years. He worked with former Commissioner Adams in interviewing many notable Chattanoogans and hosted the program “SonRise” every morning Monday through Friday. In May of this year, Earl Freudenberg was inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame after over a half century of work in radio.   “Hey Earl,” has become a familiar phrase among many Chattanoogans, and Earl’s voice will be missed...

2014 Spring Sharathon

2014 Spring Sharathon

“I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.”  Psalm 34:1-3 I really believe that these verses give the real meaning of WDYN and our ministry. To bless the Lord at all times with continual praise. “I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” To talk about the Lord and tell what God has done and can do. “My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. And then, the invitation in verse three. “O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” You see, we can never do anything for God unless we do it together with the power of God. WDYN has been in the broadcasting ministry for 46 years, and it’s because God’s people have come together to pray, give and tell others about this wonderful ministry of reaching our area for the glory of God. Our Spring Sharathon will be May 14-16 (Wednesday-Friday), and I invite you to partner with WDYN to meet the need for the next six months. We continue to make a difference as we impact the lives of listeners in our area and around the world through the Internet ministry. The need for this ministry to continue is greater than ever before. Please take a few moments to click on and fill in the gift form at the bottom of this letter. If you have any questions...
National Day of Prayer

National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance, held this year on Thursday- May 1st, inviting people of faith to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. The National Day of Prayer was created to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible. Dr. Dobson & The Moral Decline of America

Dr. Dobson & The Moral Decline of America

“Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will surely bring calamity on them which they will not be able to escape; and though they cry out to me, I will not listen to them.  So do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer for them.’”  (Jer. 11:11, 14) Clearly, if depravity becomes so pronounced and pervasive, there will come a time when calamity will fall on us.  Has America reached that point of no return?  I don’t know.  I pray not.  I do know our Heavenly Father is compassionate and long-suffering.  David wrote… (Read the full...
